Do you love a great cup of coffee, specialty tea, or hot chocolate? Do you spend more time and money than you’d care to admit getting your fix from your local coffee shop and your friendly neighborhood barista?

Would you love to have the option of getting that same coffee house quality from the comfort of your home any time you need a fix?

If you answered yes to those questions, and if you’re specifically interested in a pod-based machine, then you’re going to like what you read here in our Keurig K-Supreme Plus review.

Keurig may not have invented the single-serve concept, but they’re one of its earliest adopters and are one of the leading brands in the industry today. Their products are consistently well-designed and of high quality, so you can buy from Keurig with confidence.

The K Supreme Plus is an excellent example of their work, and in the sections that follow, we’ll tell you all about everything it has to offer.

We also won’t pull any punches when it comes to describing and defining the product’s shortcomings and limitations, so you’ll have all the information you need right at your fingertips to make an informed decision that’s best for your household. If that sounds good to you, read on, and let’s take a closer look.

An Overview of the Keurig K Cup Supreme Plus

The Keurig Supreme single-serve coffee maker isn’t a bad-looking machine, but it won’t win any beauty contests either. While some designs are meticulously crafted with sleek lines intended to evoke an emotional response, it seems clear that the design team for this model cared much more about function than form.

All that to say, it’s not bad looking, just…functional. It’s a kitchen appliance, and it’s ready to go to work! There are plenty of more expensive models with all sorts of fantastic styling, and if that’s what you’re looking for, then this model won’t impress.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for a decent-looking coffee machine that will blend seamlessly into your existing kitchen décor, this one’s a good fit, indeed!

The unit is mostly plastic, with a wrapping of thin stainless steel. If you’re looking for a solid stainless steel unit, this one won’t impress. On the other hand, by constructing the Keurig K Supreme coffee machine in this manner, the company was able to save on materials, which helped to keep the total cost down. That’s a definite plus.

The Keurig K Supreme Plus dimensions are 12.2” H x 8.3” W x 13.3” D, so it’s got a surprisingly modest footprint. Of particular interest is the height of the unit. At that height, you’ll be able to slide it under the cabinets over your kitchen counter with a bit of room to spare, which makes finding a permanent home for the machine a relatively simple matter. Great job, Keurig!

Even better, it boasts a power cord that’s 34.65” long, which gives you flexibility, and it only weighs 7.5 pounds, so if you need to move it around, that’s an easy thing to do.

Keurig K Supreme Water Reservoir

In our view, this is one of the strongest components of our Keurig K-Supreme Plus review because the size of the water reservoir is impressive, at a hefty 78 ounces.

Coffee pod slot of the Keurig Supreme Plus

Bear in mind that this is a pod-based machine, so you’re making drinks one cup at a time, though there are controls that allow you to vary the amount of water flowing into the cup—selecting either 4 ounces, 6 ounces, 8 ounces, 10 ounces or 12 ounces.

Given that, depending on the amount of water you’re using per cup, the reservoir is good for between six to nineteen cups before it needs a refill.

If you live alone, that’s superb, even if you drink a ton of coffee, though if you live in a large household with a number of heavy coffee drinkers, you’ll naturally have to refill the water tank more often. Still, this is excellent and compares favorably to the Keurig Supreme K Cup peers in the market.

The Boiler System

This is a stronger-than-average component of our Keurig K-Supreme Plus review, as we readily admit that the Keurig Supreme isn’t the best in class here. How quickly this machine comes to temp depends on the amount of water you order into the cup.

Control system buttons of K Supreme Plus

For a typical 8-ounce drink, you’re looking at a total brew time of 30-40 seconds. That will be slightly less if you order a smaller cup and slightly more if you order a larger cup or if you select an iced coffee drink, which is an option with this machine!

Those aren’t bad times by any means, but if you’re willing to spend more money to get a unit that heats and brews more quickly, you can certainly find them on the market.

All in all, then, we’d rate this as above average but not in the “exceptional” category. That’s fine. Not every machine has to be brilliant at absolutely everything, and the wait times certainly aren’t excessive here.

The Control System of the Keurig Supreme Plus Coffee Maker

In our view, this is something that Keurig has always done well, and this is another quite strong component of our Keurig K-Supreme Plus review.

The control system comprises a cluster of clearly labeled buttons and a digital display. Everything is well organized and intuitive, and the user manual is well written to boot, which makes the learning curve to master the controls practically nil.

Seriously, it will probably take you longer to unbox the machine and get it set up than it will to learn the basic controls, and that’s awesome.

Coffee pods in a clear jar and Keurig Supreme

In a nutshell, you:

  • Find a home for it on your counter and plug it in.
  • Rinse, then fill the water tank to the “Max Fill” line (note that if you purchased a Keurig K Cup Supreme with a water filter included, this is when you’ll install it).
  • Raise and lower the lid where the pods go (don’t put one in yet). The unit will power on automatically.
  • Order an 8-ounce cup and let it brew without a pod. This is a cleansing brew to flush water through the system. You’ll want to do this before you brew and again after each descaling.
  • Put a coffee pod into the spot designed for it.
  • Select your cup size, put it under the coffee spout, push the button, and enjoy!

That’s it in simplest form, but now let’s talk about the different ways you can customize your drink.

We already mentioned that you can choose between several different cup sizes. This not only controls the amount of water that winds up in your cup but it’s also used to control the brewing temperature.

For the smallest cup size (four ounces), the brew temp is 160 degrees, and it goes up incrementally as your cup size increases to an absolute maximum of 172 degrees.

Even better, if someone’s right behind you also waiting for a cup of coffee, note that the machine doesn’t immediately begin cooling down, so you can brew a second cup right away without having to wait for the boiler to come back to temp, which is a small detail but a very nice touch!

Also, note that the positioning of the coffee spout is such that the unit will accommodate cups up to 7” tall and that it’s easy to see what the machine is doing thanks to the small digital display screen. Here, you’ll also receive descaling notifications automatically, so you don’t have to keep track of that. The machine will simply let you know when it’s time.

In addition to being able to select a custom cup size, you can also customize your overall coffee strength, choosing from three different settings

And even better, the unit has enough space in memory to store up to three different user profiles, so if you’ve got multiple coffee drinkers in your house, three of you can save your preferred drink settings as presets, which is another nice touch.

Before we leave this section, there are two other things we need to mention.

First, Keurig has incorporated one of its more recent innovations here by including Multi-Stream technology.  Most pod-based machines puncture a single hole in the pod (top and bottom) that allows water to enter the pod with the grounds, which is how you wind up with a cup of coffee in your cup.

Multi-Stream technology punctures five different holes in the pod, which ensures that the water wets more of the grounds and extracts more flavor, with the end result being that you get a better-tasting, richer, and more robust cup of coffee. It’s a small change, but it makes a huge difference, and we think you’ll love it!

Finally, the last thing to point out is that Keurig actually makes several different types of pods, including K-Carafe pods, K-Mug pods, Vue pods, and Rivo Pods; only the K-Cup pods can be used with this model.

The Milk Frothing System of the Keurig K Supreme Plus Stainless Steel

This is going to be a very short section because the Keurig Supreme Plus doesn’t have milk-frothing capabilities at all. This is not an espresso machine but a single-serve, pod-based coffee maker.

Upside view of Keurig Supreme Plus C

It should be noted, however, that Keurig makes a wide range of pods, including a stunning variety of different coffees, tea, and even hot chocolate, so you’re not limited to just coffee by any means.

Honestly, you shouldn’t need a milk frother in any case because of the pods that Keurig sells. You’ll find flavors like “Mocha Latte,” so you essentially get the coffee house experience without all the fuss and extra work.

If—for whatever reason—you decide you just want to froth and texture milk anyway, there are a number of standalone milk frothers you can buy to work in tandem with this machine.

The Keurig K Cup Supreme Coffee Maker is Very Low Maintenance

We’ve already mentioned that this unit will alert you when it’s time to descale, so that’s one less thing you have to remember. Add to that the fact that the descaling process is simple and described in detail in the user manual and the fact that there’s no milk-frothing capability here, and you get a machine that’s delightfully light on care, cleaning, and maintenance.

Just keep all of its surfaces wiped down after each use and clean the drip tray as needed, and you’ll be all set until the unit alerts you that it needs to be descaled. You can’t get much simpler than that.

Extras

There aren’t any extras on offer when you buy this machine, but that’s not to say there couldn’t be.

When you’re ready to buy, it’s worth at least looking around to see if anyone has a special running, offering some kind of Keurig Supreme Plus single-serve coffee maker bundle and taking advantage of that. At the time this review was written, however, we didn’t find anything like that.

This section presents a good opportunity to provide the link to the K-Cup pods themselves, though. You can find the complete selection right here.

Pros & Cons of Keurig K Supreme Plus

The K-Supreme Plus is a self-selecting machine. If you want a pod-based coffee maker, Keurig is one of the best companies to buy from. They’ve got a huge selection of pods to choose from, and their products are consistently high quality.

On the other hand, if you don’t want to brew your coffee one cup at a time, none of the things we’ve talked about so far will impress you in the least. That’s ultimately what it comes down to.

Keurig K-Supreme Plus Review Conclusion

It should be noted that the author of this Keurig K-Supreme Plus review isn’t a fan of pod-based machines, and this one impresses me. I’m actually tempted to get one of these for specialty drinks. Keurig offers such a wide variety it would be like having my own coffee shop, right here in the office.

That says a lot. This one is highly recommended.
